Five architects, one design

The design of VERTICAL is a tour de force of Dutch innovation. The designs by five different architects interact with each other, while at the same time forming a varied and harmonious ensemble. The organic coherence of the blocks reinforces the sense of community. Meet the architects:

NL Architects

This renowned firm NL Architects continually seeks new ways to make living in the city more enjoyable. They create places where people can not only live, but also come together and feel a sense of belonging. They won two Dutch Design Awards in 2017. Watch the video with Walter van Dijk >>

Chris Collaris Architects

Chris Collaris (1981) stands out as a classical architect. His craftmanship harks back to the origins of the discipline of architecture. He creates complex, bespoke designs which he then builds without any gimmicks. VERTICAL is his latest bespoke creation.

studio Donna van Milligen Bielke

Donna van Milligen Bielke (1983) prefers to make a radical statement in the built environment. Her designs have a monolithic appearance, referring to both an urban villa and a rock, built up from different strata. In 2014 she won the Oscar of architecture prizes, the Prix de Rome.

Space Encounters

Space Encounters does not pretend that architecture offers solutions, but acknowledges that good architecture is relevant. In designing the different building elements in the plinth, they play with volumes to create exciting outdoor spaces and the best orientation for each home. Space Encounters won the Next Step Award in 2017.

DS Landschapsarchitecten

DS Landschapsarchitecten sees the city as a mountain landscape. Sloterdijk is the rock between the Brettenzone and Westerpark. And precisely because it is a built environment, it can add something to biodiversity. VERTICAL is a connecting element, not an obstacle.
